Referee Assignment

Q. Please tell me about your referee assignment solution?
A. For referee assignment we recommend our Ref Centre product. Ref Centre is a web based assignment system where referees log in to accept or decline games offers that have been given to them. The administrator responsible for the assignment process can also log in to view the status of the game offers to ensure that all the games are covered appropriately.

Q. Is it quick?
A. It is exceptionally quick when compared to traditional methods (ie telephone & email). It is also a lot less work and is considerably more reliable than traditional methods

Q. How are referees informed on how to use the system?
A. We recommend that a club send out these FAQs beforehand, however when a referee is added to the system he is emailed instructions on what he needs to do to set up his account. Ref Centre however is extremely simple to use for referees; there are currently over 10,000 referees using the system and all of them are self taught.

Q. And what about the assigners. How do they learn how to use the system?
A. The assigner has a lot more to learn so a member of the E2E Soccer staff will offer one on one training with the assigner. This usually takes about 1 hour.

Q. How do you ensure that referees only gets offered games at their skill level?
A. When a referee is added to the Ref Centre system he has to be graded between 1 and 10. When a game is added to Ref Centre it is also graded between 1 and 10. The Ref Centre system will ensure that if a game has been graded a 6 then only referees who are graded between 6 to 10 will be offered that game

Q. But how does Ref Centre decide which referee gets offered that game?
A. First of all a referee must log into Ref Centre and indicate on a calendar when and where he is willing to officiate. Ref Centre will not offer a game to a referee if he is

    a) unavailable on that day or
    b) he is not prepared to travel to the location of the game or
    c) he is not prepared to officiate in that division
    d) he is not graded high enough for that game
The Ref Centre system will scan the database for your referee pool and collect a list of referees who meet the requirements for that game Once the system has selected a group of referees who meet all the requirements for that game a fairness algorithm is used to ensure that game offers are made equitable across the course of a season.

Q. This automatic assignment method sounds great but for certain games I want to select a certain individual for that game. How does Ref Centre handle this?
A. The assigner always has the ability to hand pick a referee for a particular game. All he needs to do is click on that game from his home page and select the referee he wants from a drop down list.

Q. How is a game offer made to a referee?
A. An email is sent from the Ref Centre system to the referee informing him that he has been offered a game. The referee then needs to log into Ref Centre to accept or decline that game offer.

Q. In our club referees just help themselves to games from a published list. Can they still do this on Ref Centre?
A. Yes they can. We call this self serve assignment and a club assigner releases a list of games for the referee pool. A referee then logs in and helps himself to the game or games he wants to do. The assigner can put limits to the maximum number of games a referee can take per day and in no circumstances can a referee pick up a game that is graded higher than himself.

Q. How do we know if the referee attended the game?
A. After the game referees are required to log into Ref Centre to submit a game report. This can be as simple of just entering the score although if you wish red and yellow cards can also be reported on the system.

Q. One of our biggest problems is calculating a referees pay each month. Can Ref Centre help here?
A. Yes we can. We have very sophisticated payroll functionality on Ref Centre to help you with this process.

Q. Do you have a brochure about Ref Centre that I could show others?
You can download a brochure here.

Q. How can I receive pricing and a demonstration?
A. Please visit our contact us section and we will contact you as soon as we can.
